Stone is better but bed material is not that crucial.
They have different beauty factors but wood walls and floors are neutral so if your colonists got mad it was for different reasons.

Using precious metals for beds is somewhat viable but only in the very late game.
What is the minimum for a decent bedroom a colonist won t complain about.
However i find that you either don t need that extra 2 to mood at that stage.
